This rug uses the natural, undyed beauty of 100% Canadian wool sourced from New Brunswick's Briggs & Little Mill and was designed by famed interior designer Sarah Richardson and the Team at Creative Matters of Toronto. This rug uses seven different weaving/knotting techniques, all done by hand, to create a variety of textures that are inspired by macrame.
The skilled artisans who transform this wool work in a facility that is independently audited by Label STEP, a Swiss NGO that ensures that every rug factory represents good working and living conditions, fair wages, eco-friendly production, and the prohibition of child labour.
This rug is part of a bespoke collection designed to highlight the benefits of nature’s most important fibre—wool. It was created to honour the 10th Anniversary of The Campaign for Wool, a global initiative of its Patron His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, to raise awareness about the unique natural, sustainable renewable and biodegradable aspects of wool. It was featured in a recent Architectural Digest AD Pro story about The Campaign.
Canadian wool is particularly special because of its high elasticity, which enables it to retain its original shape. Wool provides softness, warmth and has been scientifically proven to clean indoor air. It is also incredibly durable, making it ideal for rugs.
This is an investment piece that will last a lifetime and beyond. Available in custom sizing, contact margaret@sykes-ainley.ca for more information.
